9/11

I am so grateful that one of the places I was able to visit while in New York was the 9/11 Memorial.

And like so many other places, there was a huge line, a ton of people and security checks.

But unlike all the other places, there was a reverence about the area. Even standing in the blazing sun, we knew that we were on hallowed ground.

 Freedom Tower.

This pear tree barely survived the blast. It was transported to a nursery and brought back to health. Strong winds and a storm in 2010, uprooted the resilient tree. But it once again regained its strength and was transported to, and is thriving, on the 9/11 Memorial Grounds.
